Channapha Khamvongsa is the founder and executive director of Legacies of War, an organization that raises awareness about the history and continued effects of the Vietnam war bombings that occurred in Laos. They helped increase the U.S. funding for bomb clearance from an average of $2M in 2008 to $30M in 2016. She was recognised by Barack Obama for her efforts in Laos. She shows us that it is possible to be able to do the things you have a passion for.
Thavisouk Phrasavath is a 2008 Academy Award and Film Independent Spirit Award Nominated Filmmaker. He was also the first Lao American writer to become a member of the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) in 2008. He helped the community by helping in the Gang Prevention for Youth and Family Crisis Intervention through the Church Avenue Merchants Block Association. Prasavath inspires a lot of the Lao youth interested in film making to shoot for the stars.
